ROSEMOUNT TECHNOLOGY CENTER

Rosemount Technology Centre, or RTC for short, is a free English Language Career Education Centre located in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The school is operated by the English Montreal School Board, and this career centre offers different specialized programs for students of all ages.

THE HISTORY

In 1994, the Protestant School Board of Greater Montreal created the Rosemount Technology Centre as an offshoot of their vocational programs of Rosemount High School. The programs offered at the time were: Hairdressing, Industrial Drafting, Machining Techniques, Preparation for Printing, Professional Cuisine, Secretarial/Accounting, Woodworking. Within several years Hairdressing, Professional Cuisine and Secretarial/Accounting were moved to other vocational centres in Montreal. In 1995, Automated Systems of Electromechanics moved to RTC. In 1998, Preparation for Printing was updated and renamed Desktop Publishing/Computer Graphics. In 2002, Numerical-Control Machine Tool Operation(CNC) and Furniture Finishing were added to the offerings.

THE ROBOTICS' CLUB

The RTC Robotics Club first started in 2002, when they participated in their first CRC competition. A voluntary club open to any student from any program. Teachers and mentors guide and advise the students during the 12 weeks of robot design and construction as they prepare for a multidisciplinary robotics competition.  The participated in their first CRC competition in 2002 finally winning the competition in 2007.
